Instructions
(Optional, only if using baked or steamed pumpkin instead of purée):Blend the peeled and cooked pumpkin with a cup of milk.
Put all the ingredients in a small saucepan.Heat on medium heat or medium-low while stirring or whisking until the chocolate has melted (avoid boiling).
Serve as is or topped with some milk froth or whipped cream.

You may also add an espresso shot for a chocolate flavored pumpkin spice latte.
You can also make this hot chocolate with homemade pumpkin syrup: you may then skip the pumpkin purée, spices and sweetener. I use between 2-4 Tbsp. of this syrup per serving.
