What you’ll need

Chia seeds in coconut milk and in another glass, pineapple juice

To get that delicious pina colada taste you’ll only need coconut milk and pineapple juice.
And to make this smoothie even more nutritious and creamy, we’ll add some chia seeds.

That’s all you’ll need!

Coconut milk

Coconut milk is the secret ingredient that brings a tropical creaminess to this smoothie.

You can use either canned coconut milk or the lower-fat version (the one you can commonly found alongside other milk options).

Both variations work perfectly, bringing a rich and luscious texture to this pina colada smoothie without alcohol.

I personally prefer using light coconut milk as it contains fewer calories compared to the canned version.
Additionally, canned coconut milk often has fat clumps.
But don’t worry, even the cream clumps of canned coconut milk blend easily into the smoothie.
In fact, in most pictures in this post I used canned coconut milk.

Chia Seeds

These little seeds create a smooth and velvety consistency when blended, adding a thicker texture to the smoothie.
Not to mention, they bring an additional boost of nutrients!

Pineapple Juice

Use unsweetened, natural pineapple juice.
If you have unsweetened canned pineapple, you can use the juice from it as well.

I’ve found that a good ratio of coconut milk to pineapple juice is 2 parts coconut milk to 1 part pineapple juice.
This balance creates a creamy and refreshing flavor that is just right.

Notes

  • Don’t mind if your coconut milk still has cream clumps when soaking the chia; they will blend smoothly when you mix the ingredients.
  • I calculated the calories based on canned coconut milk; opting for light coconut milk will significantly reduce the calorie content.
