The inspiration for this juice came when making gazpacho with watermelon.
Where I live, tomatoes are not so great, so every summer when visiting my parents in South Spain I go crazy drinking gazpachos.
This year I discovered for myself how great watermelon blends into this savory refreshment, so an idea popped up: “what if I just blend watermelon?”.

Juicing extracts the water and flavor from the fruits and vegetables but discards any indigestible fiber found naturally in these foods.
Smoothies are blended so they contain both soluble and insoluble fibers.
That makes them gut friendly.
The blending process also keeps your stomach fuller for longer because it takes more time to digest as opposed to juicing, which removes most of what provides satiety.

In this recipe, the watermelon doesn’t go though the process of juicing, but it’s blended instead.
So, you get the advantages of both things: this blended drink still contains the good fibers of the fruit while tasting like fruit juice. Watermelon magic!

Of course, it helps if you use ripe watermelon, but this healthy drink is always deliciously sweet.
You may also add a pinch of salt to bring out the natural sweetness of this refreshing drink or splash some fresh lime or lemon juice for an extra zing.

How to make fresh watermelon juice

The secret to make this refreshing watermelon juice quickly and easily lies in using seedless watermelon.
We don’t want to strain this watermelon smoothie because it would not only remove the fiber, but also make the recipe much more laborious. And I’m all for easy recipes!
But if you only have watermelons with seeds in stock, don’t worry; you can still prepare this fresh drink filtering out the seeds afterward, like pouring the juice though a fine mesh strainer.

The equipment couldn’t be easier also: you don’t need a juicer for this juice drink.
Since fresh watermelon cubes are very tender, the flesh becomes puréed quickly enough so you can use any blender in the kitchen.

Time needed: 10 minutes.

How to make homemade watermelon juice

  1. Prepare the watermelon

    Remove the watermelon rind; chop the flesh into medium-sized (around 1 inch) watermelon chunksWatermelon chunks

    Blend the cubed watermelon until you achieve an even consistency.
